During the Loita subdivision process, SORALO supported over 200 leaders to travel across Kenya to learn about its impact to communal resources. In Ol Kiramatian, they saw how SORALO’s Lale’enok Resource Centre brings communities together to learn
about and sustain Eramatare - traditional stewardship of communal resources. The leaders saw how this might connect to their land, and its forest.
The plan for Oreteti grew, and communities shaped a vision for a space where present and future generations could gather to celebrate their culture and nature,
as well as continue the practices that sustain them both. In line with SORALO’s Community First Approach, SORALO facilitated this vision, but the Loita communities
hold its future in their hands.
Looking forward, SORALO will be honoured to help them welcome
partners, researchers and guests to share knowledge and learn from the Loita community. These visits will also support local livelihoods and help sustain the centre into the future.
