Empaash Campsite
Empaash Oloolorienito Conservancy is a vast, 3,200-acre expanse of pristine land generously donated by the local landowners for conservation. Established about 10 years ago, the conservancy is located roughly 55 km west of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. In July this year, SORALO undertook an ambitious project of developing a campsite – the Empaash Oloolorienito Conservancy Eco Campsite within the conservancy. The campsite has since begun hosting visitors from Nairobi.

officially opened the Campsite. This development marks a major step towards improving the livelihoods of the local community and the environment. In October, we called a meeting with the landowners, local stakeholders and conservationists to the newly opened campsite. The focus was on collaborating to bring the landowners’ conservation vision to life and unlock the significant tourism potential of this beautiful landscape.
The Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA) also participated, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive Management Plan to guide the sustainable development of tourism and conservation in the area. The campsite will cater to the needs of the local landowners, guaranteeing the long-term sustainability of the natural resources within the conservancy. It promises to offer much-needed benefits to the local people while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the conservancy’s natural resources. With amenities like camping grounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, and exciting game drives, the campsite is poised to become a major eco-tourism destination in the South Rift region.
